That is the kind of leadership Amy will bring to the Mayor’s office.
San Bernardino doesn’t have a resource problem—it has a leadership problem. The city suffers from a lack of focused goals and unified direction from both the City Council and the Mayor’s Office.
Without shared priorities and measurable objectives, the city has struggled to deliver successful outcomes for residents. Political infighting, budget conflicts, and lack of professionalism have left residents frustrated and unheard.
Amy Malone will bring clarity, vision, and alignment to city leadership, ensuring that departments work toward shared goals and that progress is tracked, transparent, and accountable.
Amy's Experience with Leadership
In 2022, Amy exercised her civic duty by speaking at a San Bernardino City Council meeting against the hiring of a city manager whose professional history raised serious concerns. She spoke not as a politician, but as a resident and taxpayer who believed our city deserved qualified, ethical leadership.
While addressing the council, she was suddenly interrupted by racist and abusive remarks from remote callers using the city’s Zoom system. She was called slurs and told to “go back to Africa.” It was shocking and painful, but Amy refused to be silenced.
What troubled her just as much was the lack of immediate, decisive action by city leadership in that moment. She expected our elected officials to shut it down, protect the public forum, and stand firmly with residents who were participating in democracy. Instead, the response came only after public pressure.
But Amy did not stop there.
After that incident, she reached out to community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and civic groups across the Inland Empire to make sure that what happened to her did not discourage others from speaking up. She told them clearly:Â we cannot allow intimidation, racism, or political indifference to silence our voices or stop us from holding City Hall accountable.
That experience is one of the reasons Amy chose to step into leadership as President of the National Council of Negro Women, Inland Empire Section—an organization built on civic engagement, advocacy, and community empowerment. She wanted to make sure our community had organized, fearless representation when it comes to public participation and protecting our collective voice.
That is the kind of leadership Amy will bring to the Mayor’s office.
Comprehensive reforms to restore integrity and transparency to city government
Establish an independent committee to review development proposals, contracts, and ensure fair evaluation free from political influence.
Hold televised budget town halls BEFORE decisions are made, giving residents real input into how their tax dollars are spent.
Implement strict policies against waste, cronyism, and insider deals with real consequences for violations.
Implement clear communication protocols and leadership training to end unprofessional behavior.
Align City Council and Mayor's Office around unified priorities with measurable objectives and regular progress reports.
Launch public dashboards showing who receives contracts, why they were selected, and community benefits.
The dysfunction at City Hall doesn’t just waste time and money—it erodes public trust and prevents real progress on the issues that matter most to families.
Amy will work to create unity between the Mayor’s Office and City Council, establishing shared priorities and holding everyone accountable to delivering results for San Bernardino residents.
